Torigoe Matsuri (June 10-11):  If you choose but one day to go to this anticipated festival, go on the Sunday—the day where a 4-ton omikoshi gets paraded around Torigoe Shrine for good luck. Be ready for large crowds and a long day, the events goes from 6:30am to 9pm.

Vietnam Festival 2017 (June 10-11): Back again is this summertime favorite. Head to the Yoyogi Park Event Square this weekend for traditional Vietnamese music and folk art performances as well as a tasty food market.

National Museum of Western Art – Free Admission Day (June 10): This Saturday, check out the extensive collection at the Museum of Western Art in Ueno Park—an activity that which would normally cost you 430 yen. Works includes paintings from the late medieval period through to the 20th century and modern French sculpture. Artists include Ruebens, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Pollock and many more.

Bunkyo Ajisai (Hydrangea) Festival (June 10-18): Although June is the rainy season, it still has plenty to offer nature-wise. One such option is the stunning display of 10,000 hydrangea plants at Hakusan Shrine.

Shibuya International Party (June 10): An international dance party in Shibuya with some of Tokyo’s best DJs spinning rock, new wave, disco and house. There’s also free food and an all-you-can-drink deal for 1,500 yen (originally 2,500 yen) at the door—just make sure you mention “Tokyo Cheapo” for the discount!

Iris Flower Festival (ongoing until June 18): If 10,000 hydrangea flowers don’t impress you, how about 14,000 lovely iris plants dispersed across the even lovelier Mizumoto Park? And don’t expect just nature to fulfill your weekend, there will be a variety of events including musical performances spanning the 20-day festival.
