Perfect Liars Club is the smash-hit US comedy story interrogation show taking Tokyo by storm. Four people tell a story, and three are completely true. But one person is telling you a lie. Listen, laugh, interrogate, vote. Can you spot the liar?

Adachi Fireworks Festival

One of Tokyo’s most well-known fireworks displays takes place this Saturday along the banks of the Arakawa River. Get there early, grab a spot and enjoy the hour-long show of over 13,000 rockets.

Oishii Peru

Taking place at Yoyogi Park (along the tree-lined street), this culture festival showcases authentic Peruvian cuisine and performances by traditional artists.

National Museum of Western Art – Free Admission

Check out the extensive collection at the Museum of Western Art in Ueno Park. Works includes paintings from the late medieval period through to the 20th century and modern French sculpture. Artists include Ruebens, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Pollock and many more.

Kawasaki Daishi Fuurin-Ichi

For a bit of culture and tradition and all that good stuff, trek out to this festival of wind chimes in Kawasaki. The pretty little chimes are prized in Japan—and are said to provide a soothing, cool sort of feeling in the stifling heat of summer. We’re not sure we agree, but they sound nice anyway.

Hibiya Oktoberfest

Beer, sausages and music await you at Hibiya Park. And if you’re not a beer person, there’s wine and non-alcoholic options as well. Just head towards the park’s fountain for all the action.

The Nakaita Heso “Belly Button” Matsuri

This festival in Nakaita features eisa dancing (Okinawan folk dancing), belly dancing, and ‘heso odori’ (belly button dancing). There will also be kids parades if you’ve got little ones in tow. Takes place along the main Nakaita shopping street, near Nakaitabashi Station on the Tobu Tojo Line.

Ueno Summer Festival

A five-week summer festival around Ueno Park with different events each day, which in the past have included a paper lantern floating festival, an antiques market and an ice sculpture display. The main parade will be held on Saturday, July 21.

Kick back with a cold one in the Outer Garden of Meiji Jingu Shrine.
