Keiunso is a small (24 rooms) ryokan style hotel in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. If you’re looking for a unique Japanese experience (sleeping in a futon) and convenience (just a few minutes walk to Shinjuku – the world’s busiest train station) the Keiunso is a good option. It’s also cheap.

Single rooms are available from 5,640yen (about $US50) and doubles from 9,700yen (about $US90). You should be aware that this is a RYOKAN! That means the beds (there are none!) may be a little firmer than you’re used to and the walls a bit thinner.

There is enough in Shinjuku alone to explore for a couple of days. However, if you decide to go out drinking in Golden Gai, you should be aware of the midnight curfew. If you turn up after 12pm, your room will turn into a kabocha (pumpkin).
