Don’t let the drab exterior put you off – Asakusa Central Hotel is close to lots of attractions, roomy (this is rare in Tokyo!) and good value.
If you’re traveling alone, a single room will run you about ¥6,000 while doubles are available for about 10,000yen ($US95). Asakusa is hardly the centre of Tokyo, but it is one of the major sightseeing hot spots with attractions like Kapabashi Dori (the home to Tokyo’s shops selling fake plastic food for restaurant displays) and Tokyo’s most renowned temple – Sensoji.
The location of the hotel is as the name suggests – central. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the west of Kaminarimon along Kaminarimon Dori.
The hotel is child friendly, has a Gusto family restaurant on the 2nd floor, a Family Mart convenience store on the ground floor, luggage storage and bicycle rental (handy for quickly reaching all the attractions in Asakusa). The terrain around here is flat, so using your bike, you can explore the olde edo charm of the Shitamachi area and the Yanaka district which lies between Asakusa and the major JR station of Ueno.
