With comfort and calmness at its forefront, Resol Poshtel Tokyo Asakusa reimagines the concept of a capsule hotel. While your sleeping space remains a classic capsule pod, the hotel’s overall design exudes traditional Japanese elegance and contemporary practicality, reflected through its spaces and amenities.

What facilities does the hotel have?

The hotel has free Wi-Fi, vending machines, coin laundry, and ironing services. Additional amenities include a smoking room, communal shower rooms and toilets, a powder room (on the women’s floor), and a beverage corner in the main lobby.

For those concerned about security, each guest receives a key card that grants access only to their designated floor and the main living lobby. There is also a security box inside each capsule.

Note: Although check-out is at 10 a.m., it is possible to extend your stay for an extra charge.

Is there anywhere to hang out in the capsule hotel?

One of the hotel’s main attractions is the abundance of social space it offers. The second-floor main “living lobby” follows a traditional Japanese esthetic — like the rest of the hotel — with tatami-style wooden seating, sliding doors, and Mount Fuji artwork. It’s designed to evoke an old-school “Asakusa atmosphere”.

In this space, you can relax, chat with new friends, or do some remote work. There are USB plugs, free tourist booklets, and the best part — an unlimited drinks bar where you can enjoy free coffee and tea. There is a fridge available too.

Just outside the main living lobby, there is a smaller space where you can see notes written by guests from around the world. Here, you can also collect the hotel’s exclusive stamp. If you visit Resol Hotels across Japan, you can collect them all.

Additionally, each floor — women’s and men’s — has its own social space, with a similar atmosphere and intended use.

What are the rooms like?

Functional and well-designed, these capsules provide a comfortable place to sleep, with all the basic features you might need. These include USB plugs and a small storage box for valuables. Note that, similar to other capsules, there is no way to lock your capsule. Instead, there is a privacy curtain.

There are men’s and women’s-only floors, as well as shared floors. If you are in a big group, there is also the option to rent out an entire block of cabins for private use.

How big are the rooms?

All the cabins are the same size, being 2.7m2, each equipped with a single bed (90 – 130 cm wide). If you’re wondering where to store your luggage, there is some space under the capsule itself. Should that not be enough, there is plenty of space in the dedicated luggage racks outside each capsule room (the main corridor).

Are the rooms comfortable?

Although compact, the cabins feel more spacious than typical capsules thanks to their high ceilings. The interior adds to the “luxurious” feel, featuring traditional Japanese-designed wallpaper. The entrances to the capsules are modeled after Japanese teahouses — adding to their charm.

The bed space is comfortable and fairly roomy. Inside each cabin, you’ll find thoughtful amenities like slippers, a towel, a toothbrush, and a cozy duvet with a pillow.

Note: Like all capsule hotels, it’s recommended that you bring ear plugs.

What’s the view like?

None of the rooms or areas in the hotel have a view.

Should I order the breakfast?

This accommodation doesn’t offer breakfast, but there’s a microwave and fridge available, so it’s easy to bring your own food. Just keep in mind that eating is only allowed in the common area.

How is the location?

Situated right near the heart of Asakusa, Resol Poshtel Tokyo Asakusa makes an ideal base for anyone wanting to explore one of Japan’s most famous shitamachi (traditional, low-rise neighborhoods). While it’s a little farther from areas like Shibuya and Shinjuku, it’s great for those who want to stay close to Tokyo Skytree, the Sumida River, and the nearby Ueno district. And of course, there’s plenty to see and do in Asakusa itself.

How is the access to trains and subway?

The closest station to Resol Poshtel Tokyo Asakusa is:

  • Tawaramachi Station (5-minute walk): This station serves the Ginza Line, which starts and ends at Shibuya Station.

How do I get there from Tokyo’s airport?

  • From Narita Airport Take the Skyliner (towards Keisei-Ueno) and then get off at Keisei Ueno Station. Then, walk 5 minutes to Ueno Station and jump on the Ginza Line (Local to Asakusa) to Tawaramachi Station. The overall journey takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and costs ¥2,760. Make sure to get a separate Skyliner ticket.
  • From Haneda Airport You can take the Keikyū Airport Line which eventually changes into the Asakusa Line. Get off at Asakusa Station and then walk 14 minutes. This journey takes 55 minutes and costs ¥610.

What’s the surrounding neighborhood like?

The hotel itself is located on a quieter side street, away from the chaos of the main street. However, you can reach this atmosphere in a matter of minutes. You can easily stroll past roads lined with kitchenware shops and make your way to the main Kappabashi Street in just under 10 minutes.

Are there many good places to eat nearby?

The road the hotel is situated on has a few restaurants, but as soon as you step onto the main street, you’re met with hundreds of options. From kebabs to noodles, the choice can be quite overwhelming.

For a quintessential Japanese dining experience, we recommend heading to Hoppy Street — a lively road lined with old-school izakayas, perfect for grabbing a drink and sampling some street food. Nearby, you’ll also find a spacious and ultra-modern Sushiro.
