The Soho Asakusa ain’t fancy, but it’s affordable and pretty convenient, at about ten minutes’ walk from the nearest subway station and less than half an hour to walk to Ueno or Asakusa. Rooms are available for rent for the day, week, or month, and weekly hotel rates start at ¥30,500 for a single and include TV, a/c, a desk, en suite bathroom, wifi, and a small kitchenette. They have a relatively (for Japan) late check out time of noon. There are laundry facilities onsite and convenience stores right next door. Plus check out the groovy Eiffel Tower wallpaper.
Hotel guests with kids should beware: children over three are considered “adults” and will be charged as such. Up to three guests can fit in a single room with a bed and a sofa, but quarters are pretty tight—however, for those looking to squeeze in to save a few bucks, this may be tolerable! Besides, you’re just there to sleep (and check the internet) – right?
Another reason for the low prices is that Soho is right around the corner from “Yoshiwara” the historic red-light district of Asakusa.
