What’s the hotel like?

Westin Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, is a collection of hotels with wellness at its heart. The Westin Yokohama is no exception, focusing on the six main pillars of wellbeing established by the brand: play well, work well, eat well, move well, sleep well, and feel well.

The Westin Yokohama, with its 373 rooms, beautifully embodies these principles as well as Yokohama’s history as a port town. One of the most striking indicators is the hotel’s boat-shaped building. Throughout the property, you’ll notice various water- and port-inspired monuments and motifs — for example, the statue on the ground floor and the water-themed interiors at the reception on the 23rd floor.

Pro tip: This hotel offers a variety of packages, some of which include special additions or are themed to suit the diverse needs of its guests.

What facilities does the hotel have?

Living up to its reputation as a relaxing haven, the hotel offers a variety of facilities, with the main ones being a gym, pool, and spa.

The 24-hour gym is complimentary for guests; when we visited before breakfast around 7 a.m., it was empty — utter bliss. The Heavenly Spa by Westin requires an appointment and additional fee, but it’s entirely worth it. You’ll leave your facial or massage feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

For guests who wish to use the 20-meter indoor pool, there is an additional fee of ¥3,300 for adults and ¥1,650 for children. After swimming laps, you can also enjoy the jacuzzi and steam room.

Other notable facilities include the Lobby Lounge, Code Bar, restaurants, and event spaces, all of which we will discuss in more detail below.

Is there anywhere to hang out in the hotel?

To align with its wellness concept, the hotel has intentionally created a variety of spaces for relaxtion or work, if needed. One such space is the “Lobby Lounge”, which offers a nature-inspired atmosphere filled with natural light and views of the city — a Zen space perfect for unwinding before heading to your room.

The Lobby Lounge connects to the “Sugar Merchant”, where you can enjoy afternoon tea — at any time of the day. Indulge in savory dishes, signature sweets crafted by the pastry chef, and herbal teas, all in a refined setting. Prices start around ¥9,800, with the menu and themes changing seasonally.

In line with its “Work Well” pillar, the hotel features 13 modern meeting venues. It offers a comprehensive Meeting Package that includes use of the meeting room, coffee breaks, and lunch.

Banquet halls are available for special events. Planning a wedding? The Westin Yokohama has a contemporary chapel and a dedicated wedding team ready to help bring your special day to life.

What are the rooms like?

Like the rest of the hotel, each room’s design is carefully considered, evoking a sense of Zen, nature, and the soothing presence of water. This reflects an emphasis on wellness and the distinct influence of Yokohama Harbor throughout. For example, at the entrance of each room, the lighting is reminiscent of sunlight filtering through forest leaves, while the walls are adorned with traditional Japanese washi paper.

Overall, the layout of the rooms balances both functionality and esthetics.

How big are the rooms?

There are 10 types of rooms to choose from, ranging in size from 42m2 to 210m2. Options include: Deluxe (King and Queen), Bay Room (King and Queen), Corner King, Club Rooms (King, Double, Corner King), Executive Suite, and a Presidential Suite. Note that the Deluxe King and Bay Room King also offer accessibility features.

All rooms include a living area with a desk, mini fridge, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a complimentary coffee marker, among other amenities. The only difference between “Bay” and “Deluxe” rooms is the view. “Bay” rooms offer classic Yokohama harbor views, while “Deluxe” rooms overlook the city.

Are the rooms comfortable?

Spacious, sophisticated, and serene, the rooms offer exceptional comfort. The Westin believes that wellbeing starts with restorative sleep, so each room features a new-generation Heavenly Bed (a registered trademark of theirs) that lives up to its name. With its plush mattress and duvet, you’ll sink into blissful comfort as soon as you lie down.

To enhance your rest, dab on some Sleep Well Lavender Balm or try a dish from the curated Sleep Well Menu, designed to promote better sleep.

Before falling asleep, take advantage of the Westin Heavenly Bath. The light oak and dark grey marble interior create a spa-like atmosphere. Featuring a rain shower, spacious tub, and luxurious White Tea amenities, it’s a sanctuary to wash away stress or soothe tired feet after a long day.

What’s the view like?

One of the hotel’s main attractions is its high-level rooms, which offer expansive views of Yokohama and beyond. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of Mt. Fuji in the distance — now that’s a sight worth waking up to.

Unfortunately, during our stay, Mt. Fuji was hidden, so we couldn’t enjoy the view in all of its glory! Still, we’re certain it’s a breathtaking sight.

Should I order the breakfast?

Similar to lunch at the Pacific Table, breakfast is also served buffet style. The menu, inspired by the “Eat Well” philosophy, serves a variety of nutritious options.

Signature dishes include the omelette, egg-noodle soup with wontons, and smoked salmon and quinoa salad. If these aren’t to your liking, you can also enjoy cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, salad, cheeses, or bread.

For those who prefer a Japanese breakfast, natto and rice are available. Alternatively, Western, Indian, and Chinese options such as grilled breakfast items, curry, and steamed rice are also offered. For drinks, choose between fresh fruit juices, teas, coffees, and even a smoothie.

If breakfast isn’t included in your room price, it costs ¥5,000 for adults and ¥2,500 for children. However, if you have a busy day ahead and don’t plan to stop anywhere else for lunch, we’d say filling up here is worth it.

How is the location?

This hotel is conveniently located near the famous Pia Arena MM and just a few minutes’ walk from Landmark Tower. You can reach the Yokohama Museum of Art and several shopping complexes, including MARK IS and Queen’s Tower in under 10 minutes on foot.

While the hotel isn’t located in the exact center of Minato Mirai where Cosmo World is, its position in the Minato Mirai 21 Central Business District means you’ll be just outside the busiest area. This provides a bit more space while still keeping you close to the major attractions.

How is the access to trains and subway?

The closest station to The Westin Yokohama is:

  • Minatomirai Station (9-minute walk): Minatomirai Station serves the Minatomirai Line, which connects to the Tokyu Tōyoko Line and the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line. These lines provide direct access to central Tokyo areas such as Shibuya, Ikebukuro, and Shinjuku.

How do I get there from Tokyo’s airport?

  • From Narita Airport You can take the Narita Express straight to Yokohama Station. Once at Yokohama Station, take the Minatomirai Line to Minatomirai Station. The Narita Express ticket costs ¥4,370, while the second journey costs ¥200. The overall journey takes just over an hour and a half.
  • From Haneda Airport: Take the Keihin Line Express to Yokohama Station. Then, hop onto the Minatomirai Line to Minatomirai Station. This journey costs ¥600 and takes about 40 minutes.

What’s the surrounding neighborhood like?

The Minato Mirai area has plenty to see and do. If you enjoy shopping, amusement facilities, or museums, it’s the perfect place to visit.

Are there many good places to eat nearby?

Yokohama — and Minato Mirai, in particular — are full of great restaurants and eateries. As mentioned, just down the road from the hotel you’ll find MARK IS, Queen’s Tower, and Landmark Tower, all of which have a wide variety of dining options. However, you don’t even need to leave the hotel to satisfy your appetite.

The Westin Yokohama houses four dining venues: Pacific Table, Iron Bay, Lobby Lounge (Sugar Merchant), and Code Bar. You can also enjoy in-room dining.

Iron Bay

Iron Bay is the hotel’s signature restaurant, exuding luxury from its top-floor location. Specializing in grilled meats, fresh seafood, and an exceptional wine selection, this grill offers a refined dining experience. The elegant dark wood interior and comfortable sofas create a high-quality ambiance, letting you relax while enjoying outstanding cuisine.

For special occasions, you can book a private room with a dedicated chef who will prepare your meal right before you.

Note: The dress code is smart-casual.

Pacific Table

During our stay, we dined at Pacific Table. Just as the name implies, Pacific Table allows guests to travel the world through its cuisine. Served buffet-style, the restaurant’s offerings feature local ingredients and pay tribute to Yokohama’s rich international and cultural heritage as a port city.

With over 40 dishes to enjoy, highlights include customizable TanTan noodles, Southeast Asian curry, roasted pork belly, and fish. You can complement these main courses with fresh vegetables from the salad bar — a nod to the restaurant’s “Eat Well” philosophy.

If that’s not enough, there’s also a charcuterie and cheese table, pizza, bakery items, other cold dishes, and a Japanese sushi stand.

While the main courses are tempting, be sure to save room for dessert. Served in a beautifully decorated pink room, the dessert selection includes exquisite pastries, cakes, and seasonal fruits. The variety was both impressive and a bit overwhelming.

For those seeking to escape the chaos of the city while still enjoying an urban atmosphere on a smaller scale, The Westin Yokohama is an excellent choice. As a 5-star hotel, it offers exceptional service and facilities, all rooted in a wellness-focused concept. If you enjoy spending time in your hotel and plan to explore both Yokohama and Tokyo, this luxurious, albeit more expensive, option is a great fit.

Notably, while families are more than welcome to stay, and children are allowed to use facilities such as the pool, there aren’t any dedicated child-friendly spaces.

What sustainability measures do they have?

The Westin Yokohama has implemented several specific sustainability measures. These include decorating the hotel with long-lasting greenery and seasonal plants, and offering NORDAQ premimum water.

If you are concerned about food waste, so is The Westin. They actively ensure leftover produce from the kitchen is reused in other sections of the hotel — for example, extra fruit from desserts or breakfast is later used in cocktails at the bar.

To prove this, in 2025, The Westin Yokohama is the only in Kanagawa Prefecture to be awarded the “Green Key,” a certification that recognizes environmentally-conscious hotels.

Tips and tricks for the best stay

This hotel truly has a lot to offer — you could easily spend the entire day exploring its amenities. For the best stay, we recommend taking full advantage of the 12 p.m. checkout and relaxing on that bed.

If you prefer to venture out of your room, there a few hidden spots excellent for unwinding. Just outside the gym, you’ll find a hidden terrace-like area with two sun chairs surrounded by greenery, offering a view of the nearby buildings.

Additionally, don’t leave without visiting the hotel’s bar at least once. Called The Code Bar, this intimate metropolitan spot offers mesmerizing views of Minato Mirai, along with a unique concept.

Staying true to its name, the bar serves signature cocktails inspired by famous zip codes across Kanagawa Prefecture, such as China Town, Noge, and Zushi. Feeling peckish? Enjoy some light bites as you relax and soak in the beauty and history of Yokohama over a drink.
