National Museum of Western Art – Free Admission Day (June 22): This Saturday, check out the extensive collection at the Museum of Western Art in Ueno Park—an outing that would normally cost you 430 yen. Works includes paintings from the late medieval period through to the 20th century and modern French sculpture. Artists include Ruebens, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Pollock and many more.
Taiwan Festival Tokyo 2017 (June 22-25): A Taiwan food festival in the heart of Ueno Park with plenty of tasty offerings. Plus a lychee seed-throwing contest and entertainment. Pair it with the free admission day at the Museum of Western Art (above) and it’s a great for a day out for the whole fam!
Africa Hibiya Festival (June 24-25): Head to Hibiya Park for this festival celebrating African culture and lifestyle through food, dance, music, workshops, art and performances. The festival aims to increase multicultural knowledge in Japan.
Sri Lanka Festival 2017 (June 24-25): A chance to taste an array of Sri Lankan dishes and drinks, including rice & curry, string hoppers, hoppers, egg hoppers, kotturotti, cutlets, rotti and vaddai. There will also be a market selling everything from jewelry, to carvings, to ceramics to Sri Lankan spices.
Japanese Antique Market (June 25): A cheapo favorite, this market will be held in Yoyogi Park. You can pick up just about anything, from art to decor, from housewares to souvenirs and more—there’s sure to be something for every budget.
