Take your mind off the cold this week with a double layer of Heattech and some of our favorite events around the city. Get a double dose of Yoyogi Park food fests feat. nabe, sake, and regional delights. Next, head to Kameido Tenjin Shrine for a beloved annual ritual and Shibuya for a dance. Finally, wrap things up with train bento boxes from around the country in Shinagawa and some improv comedy in Ebisu.
Wicked With DJ Tennis
Wicked is a long-running club night in Tokyo focused on house, disco, and techno. Having performed at major festivals including Time Warp, Primavera Sound, and Coachella, DJ Tennis is known for long sets spanning genres.

Winter and Sake Festival
Like most events in Yoyogi Park Events Square, this festival is predominantly about eating delicious food. The main event is the daily live tuna carving. Once cut, the tuna is served from a food truck for hungry onlookers.
Nabe Festival
This popular Japanese winter dish is worth a taste. This festival takes place at the same time and place as the Winter and Sake Festival.
Usokae Bullfinch Exchange
Kameido Tenjin Shrine will be holding its most renowned ritual — Usokae — again this year, as it has for the past two centuries. Wooden bullfinch figurines acquired last year will be exchanged for new ones to renew blessings of luck, happiness, and prosperity for the upcoming year.
Ekiben Tournament
They’re usually eaten on a long train journey to somewhere far off and exciting. But this time, the ekiben are making the journey from all over Japan to Tokyo.
The Pirates of Tokyo Bay Bilingual Improv Comedy
The Pirates of Tokyo Bay is a monthly English and Japanese improv comedy show performed at What The Dickens! in Ebisu. The unscripted shows, presented in both English and Japanese, feature a mix of skits, games, and audience participation.

Weekend Comedy at TCB
Just 1 minute from Shibuya Station, Tokyo Comedy Bar has built a name for itself as the home of comedy in the city. Each week, Tokyo’s best comedians hit the stage to showcase their sets, and the local comedy community gathers for a laugh.
