Tokyo events for Monday, June 1, to Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Tokyo Pride brings an extra splash of color to Harajuku this weekend. Pride Festival will take over Yoyogi Park for two days while the Pride Parade heads through the streets on Sunday. A four-ton portable shrine will do a tour of its own through Asakusa for Torigoe Matsuri, plus fireflies, food fests, and Yokohama Port Festival provide a ton more reasons to explore the city.

Tokyo Pride

The Pride Festival will take place in Yoyogi Park from June 6 to 7, featuring live performances as well as stalls from local LGBTQ+ friendly companies, restaurants, nonprofits, and more. The Pride Parade happens on Sunday, June 7, and follows an approximately 3 km route around the Harajuku/Shibuya area.

Torigoe Matsuri

The Torigoe Festival is a big event, if only for the main feature: the procession of Torigoe Shrine’s portable shrine, weighing in at 4 tons. The streets surrounding the shrine are filled with yatai stalls selling the usual festival fare such as chocolate-dipped bananas, yakisoba, takoyaki, grilled fish, and copious amounts of beer.

Yokohama Port Festival

The Yokohama Port Opening Festival is Yokohama’s largest public event of the year and celebrates when Yokohama Port first opened. As well as being able to board ships at the port, you can also watch live performances, eat some good food, and see fireworks.

Ueno Plum Wine Festival

At the Ueno Plum Wine Festival, you’re invited to wander under the boughs of Ueno Park’s trees and take a taste bud tour. And if you need a bite to cleanse your palate between drinks, don’t worry, there’ll be snacks and merch to buy around the venue.

Tokyo Hula Festival

Thanks to deep cultural ties between Hawaii and Japan, hula has flourished as a dance form here, where thousands of hālau or hula schools carry on traditions with care and passion. Pop-up stalls around the main venues serve cold drinks, island-inspired bites, and festival souvenirs.

Paella and Tapas Festival

Enjoy popular Spanish dishes, such as paella and tapas, as well as drinks such as Spanish wine, beer, and sangria. In addition, there will be music and cultural performances throughout the three days of the festival.

Italia, Amore Mio!

Guest chefs will be on hand to prepare regional Italian dishes, from pizza and arancini to spritz and paninis. Also on the menu: wine and cheese, cocktails, live music, and shopping opportunities featuring top Italian brands.

Philippine Expo

There are food stalls, dance performances, traditional arts from Japan and the Philippines, pop, hip-hop, and jazz shows (with some big names in Filipino and Japanese pop alike making an appearance), comedians, and cosplay.

Kugayama Firefly Festival

This is a chance to see fireflies in an unlikely urban setting: in the “wilds” of Kugayama in Suginami Ward. While there won’t be clouds of glowing bugs, you will be able to spot a few. If you’ve given up, there are also plenty of firefly-themed events happening around the neighborhood.
