Tokyo’s summer nights are known for their pops of light — the firefly. Learn more about this beautiful bug as spring turns to summer at Adachi Firefly Night.
What to expect
Adachi Firefly Night starts in the zoo area. There, you’ll wander through the waterways, and learn more about the life and breeding of the fireflies. Once your time slot comes up, head into the special exhibition hall.
There you’ll get to read exhibit-exclusive panels on firefly ecology and life cycles. Next, you’ll be guided into the firefly viewing dome. Let your eyes adjust to the dark, and you’ll soon see over 500 fireflies dancing within. Slowly walk through, as they move around you for 5 minutes. Finally, head to the gift store where exclusive firefly merch is on sale.
Tickets
Tickets to the exhibition are first come, first serve — so don’t wait. You can buy them online, but you’ll have to pick a time slot when you do. Tickets are ¥700 for adults, and ¥350 for under 18’s.
How to get there
The Adachi Firefly Night will be held at the Adachi Park of Living Things in Motofuchie Park. The quickest way to get there is to take either the Hibiya or Chiyoda Metro lines to Kita-Senju Station. From there, take the 47 bus to Hokima-Itchome, and walk for 9 mins.
