Sheepdog Theatre returns this month with Art, a hilarious comedy about art and friendship.
What to expect
Set in Paris, Serge, Marc, and Yvan’s friendship begins to unravel when Serge purchases an expensive all-white painting.
What starts as a debate about art soon brings long-simmering tensions to the surface, forcing the three men to confront not only the painting, but the nature of their friendship.
Art is one of the most acclaimed comedies of the past three decades, earning the Tony, Olivier, and Molière Awards.
The cast includes Bob Werley, a well-known figure in Tokyo’s film and improv scene; Masanari Sasaki, a voice coach and bilingual actor; and Jim O’Connor, now based in Japan after many years performing in New York.
Sheepdog Theatre is an international company recognized for its bold performances and inventive productions, including a bilingual Romeo and Juliet, a sold-out run of Hamlet, and a powerful staging of Samuel D. Hunter’s The Whale.
Art is directed by Michael Walker and produced by Michelle Mugnai.
