Get hands-on with art around Chiba.
What happens?
2025 marks the first iteration of the Chiba City Arts Triennale. The festival’s focus is on participatory art projects that involve local people, rather than just traditional exhibitions. The aim is to energize local creativity and integrate art into day-to-day life. Its slogan in 2025 is “Unlocking Potential, Empowering People.”
The event features approximately 37 projects by 30 artists from Japan and abroad, including both solo and participatory group works and plenty of kid-friendly options.
Schedule
The event features numerous works running throughout the festival from September 19 to November 24. Some of the key projects include Go With Your Buddy at Chiba Children’s Hospital, PSYCHOBUILDING around Chiba Station, Chimera Amusement Store/Arts Unagi in the Ichibano/Inohana area, and Station to Station, a hands-on workshop and exhibition held at Chiba Station and Chiba Children’s Hospital.
How to get there
Works and projects are located throughout Chiba, including areas near Chiba Station, Chiba Children’s Hospital, Nishi-Chiba, Inohana, Ichiba-cho, Chuo-ku, the Chiba City Zoological Park, and the Hanamigawa area. Various non-traditional venues are used. Head to the website for the full program.
