One of Japan’s most beloved Christmas events is coming to Tokyo.
What happens?
After years of drawing huge crowds in Fukuoka, Christmas Advent will make its first Tokyo appearance in Ueno Park. Like many Christmas markets, this one, too, is going for a European vibe. Expect an outdoor market atmosphere with lights, food stalls, and seasonal art installations.
A big draw this year is the series of limited-edition mugs, including the debut of the Tokyo Ueno Mug and a “Snow Day Mug” illustrated by Chisato Tanaka. You’ll have to watch your timing though, as it’s available only when it actually snows.
The plaza will also be dotted with around 150 Santa statues from around the world, ranging from oversized giants you have to look up at to sunglasses-wearing tropical Santas that would be right at home in warm Kyūshū.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
