Come for the golden grinder, stay for the buzz.

What happens?

From smoky kissaten to third-wave cafés, what Japan lacks in coffee terroir it makes up for with attention to detail, precision, and style. And the annual Comandante Championship Japan is part of that esteemed lineage.

Popular cafe Philocoffea Omotesandō hosts the second edition of the festival — part competition, part neighborhood gathering.

24 baristas will take the stage, each brewing with Comandante’s German-crafted hand grinder. They’ll be judged not only on their skill, but also on their individuality, creativity, and ability to connect with the audience.

The day is steered by the motto “FUN > COMPETITIVE” and “Make coffee community together”. The winner takes home the coveted “Golden Comandante” and coffee gear.
