A major Ghost in the Shell retrospective arrives at Tokyo Node in Toranomon, tracing the series from Masamune Shirow’s original manga to its many screen adaptations.

What to expect

If you know the 1995 film, you’ll recall its rain-soaked neon cityscape — widely said to be inspired by Hong Kong — and that unforgettable sequence where Major Kusanagi’s cyborg body is assembled piece by piece. This exhibition dives into that world through original drawings, storyboards, layouts, and production materials from across the franchise, including Stand Alone Complex, Arise, and SAC_2045.

The exhibition also features an extensive merchandise lineup, including exclusive collaborations with fashion brands and artists, traditional craft items, and an official catalogue containing over 1,000 original drawings and production materials.
