70 years on, Godzilla remains an icon, with movies, manga, and more media with him as the star. To celebrate, over 30 artists have come together to create Godzilla: The Art Exhibition.
What to expect
Godzilla has rampaged through Japanese cinema and inspired dozens of local and international artists. This exhibition brings them together to answer a key question — “What is Godzilla?”. Using their own choice of mediums and creative vision, each artist has prepared their answer. This means you’ll wander through everything from paintings to movies as each artist showcases the impact Godzilla has had on them.
Godzilla will be around in more than just the artistic spirit though. The space itself will be decorated as if the legendary monster has destroyed it, putting you right into your favorite movie moment. As a centerpiece from Toho Visual Arts, a model of Godzilla will be accompanied by an exclusive video about the 70 years he has trampled into our hearts.
Tickets
Exhibition tickets are available in advance from Klook or can be purchased on the day. But we’d recommend buying in advance to secure a time slot and date, as tickets can sell out.
Tickets are priced separately on weekdays and weekends. Weekday tickets will set you back ¥2,200, with junior high and high school students paying ¥1,500. Meanwhile, elementary school students and younger pay ¥500.
However, on weekends, adults and students pay ¥2,500 and ¥1,600, and children pay ¥600.
