Gotenyama has been a much loved cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period. From March 14 to March 31, the famous and yearly cherry blossom festival will be held.
What happens?
The theme of this year’s festival is “Sakurabito that brings back memories 100 years from now”. Sakurabito is actually an old word, used to describe a person who enjoys watching the cherry blossoms.
Taking inspiration from the theme, many of the individual events will focus on climate change and the desire to pass on the sakura traditions to future generations.
