Space cats are landing in Saitama.
What to expect
A brand-new contemporary art museum is making its debut in Saitama. Hyper Museum Hanno opens its doors with a special exhibition: Kenji Yanobe’s Ship’s Cat Island. He is known for his larger-than-life sculptures that fuse pop culture, mythology, and social commentary.
At the heart of the exhibition is an enormous floating “sleeping cat” island, set adrift on Lake Miyazawa. Visitors will find over 80 works, including massive sculptures, original drawings, and exclusive video installations.
The exhibition features the Hyper Kids Program, where families can engage in interactive workshops.
The museum will also screen a 120-minute special documentary that explores Yanobe’s creative journey and the influences behind his work.
