Learn haiku and calligraphy at this laid-back workshop in Akihabara.
What to expect
With the help of experienced teachers, you’ll create your own haiku poem from scratch and take it home with you as your own hand-written masterpiece. You’ll start the class by learning the basics of haiku, like structure and kigo seasonal words and phrases.
Next, you’ll work on your own original haiku with help from English-speaking staff before writing it up on shikishi decorative paper with a brush pen.
Finally, you can take your masterpiece home with you to show off to friends and family. All materials will be provided during class, but be sure to bring a smock or apron or wear clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on.
Beginners are welcome, and English support will be provided throughout the class.
