Japan might be known for sakura season, but the plum blossoms are just as beautiful. See them at their brilliant best without having to leave Tokyo at the Koishikawa Plum Festival.
What to expect
The yearly Koishikawa Plum Festival takes place in Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, near Korakuen. The garden has a modest grove of plum trees that bloom from February to early March. It’s the perfect place for a brisk walk or to enjoy one of the guided tours to learn more about the blossoms.
There are also a host of traditional activities for visitors to try. You can catch a sato kagura performance — a type of traditional silent theater — or try out a short calligraphy class. All of these experiences need to be reserved in advance on the event website.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
