What to expect

J-pop and language learning unite for this 90-minute in-person and online class. Perfect for music fans and intermediate Japanese speakers, this class focuses on J-pop phrases and grammar to unlock real-world language skills. Listen to lyrics, explore vocabulary and grammar, and discover unique expressions.

This class is recommended for those who have intermediate conversation and reading skills and want to enjoy music while expanding their vocabulary, natural phrasing, and understanding lyrics beyond translation.

This class can be joined in-person in Akihabara or remotely online. Materials will be prepared by the organizers; please bring a pen and a notebook.

Schedule

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Listen to a J-POP song
• Read and understand the lyrics (with explanation)
• Learn key vocabulary and grammar from the song
• Explore unique J-POP expressions and phrases
• Practice using the expressions yourself
