Deepen your real-world Japanese skills with this advanced Japanese class in Akihabara.

What to expect

In this class, you’ll read and discuss Japanese news articles covering everything from current events and politics to society, culture, and technology. Through these discussions, you’ll strengthen your understanding of advanced Japanese grammar and vocabulary and improve your ability to express your thoughts articulately and with nuance.

This is a hybrid class — you can join us in Akihabara or participate online.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Read and analyze short Japanese news articles
  • Learn essential news-related vocabulary and expressions
  • Practice summarizing and explaining key points
  • Discuss the news topic and share your opinions in Japanese
  • Develop skills for agreeing, disagreeing, and adding nuance

Recommended Japanese level

This class is recommended for upper-intermediate to advanced Japanese speakers and learners who can hold conversations on familiar topics and want to expand to abstract or complex issues. Comfort with JLPT N2 grammar and vocabulary is recommended.

This class is for:

  • Learners who want to understand real Japanese news with confidence
  • Those who enjoy discussing current events and societal topics
  • Learners aiming for JLPT N2–N1, or academic/professional Japanese
  • Anyone who wants to move beyond textbooks and learn through real information sources

Entry

Participation in the class is free for members, ¥2,000 for non-members. For non-members, prior registration is required via this Google Form.
