Keen to see a Leonardo da Vinci painting in Japan? Here’s your chance.
What to expect
Held at the National Art Center, Tokyo, this exhibition brings together more than fifty works from the Louvre’s collection. The focus is on the period when Renaissance ideas, having spread across Europe and matured, emerged as a new visual language. The exhibition looks at what happened next: how artists refined the study of anatomy, space, emotion, and individuality, and how these ideas reshaped European art.
The centrepiece is Leonardo Da Vinci’s La Belle Ferronnière, shown in Japan for the first time. With only around 15 authenticated paintings by Da Vinci in existence, this is a big deal.
Schedule
The museum is closed on Tuesdays.
Last entry is 30 mins before closing.
