Learn about matcha and Japanese tea ceremony culture in a casual setting at this all-day event in Akihabara.
What to expect
At WeLearn Cafe in Akihabara, you’ll be able to experience traditional tea ceremony culture firsthand with the help of a tea ceremony teacher.
First, you’ll learn about matcha and what separates it from other types of Japanese tea. You’ll also be guided through the history and background of the traditional tea ceremony.
Then, free from the stress of the usual formalities, you’ll learn about the traditional movements and courtesies associated with a typical tea ceremony and get the chance to make your own matcha.
The event will run all day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and you can join at any time. You’re also welcome to just use the language café space freely during your visit. Come alone or bring your friends; everyone is welcome, regardless of your prior tea ceremony knowledge.
