This annual showcase features the geishas of the Mukojima district, one of Tokyo’s six remaining hanamachi.
What happens?
Unless you’re very well-connected, it can be hard to encounter a geisha, as they usually entertain at exclusive venues. However, each geisha district or hanamachi typically puts on a yearly showcase where ordinary folk can watch geisha dance to traditional music. Mukojima Odori is one such opportunity to catch geisha doing what they do best.
