Do you like TED Talks? Do you want to listen to an intellectual discussion with a glass of wine or a pint of beer? Then head to Nerd Nite Tokyo for your monthly dose of wisdom — and fun!
A message from Nerd Nite Tokyo:
Every month, we gather some smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique, and this month is no exception.
This month, we’re happy to welcome two speakers bringing solutions to big challenges. September is the 100th anniversary of one of the most significant events in Tokyo’s history, the Great Kanto Earthquake. Seismologist Christine Houser will be here to discuss it and help us prepare for the future. We hear there will be a raffle for emergency gear, too!
But that’s not all — our second speaker, materials scientist Fabio Lisi, will be sharing his work on new tests to help tackle the hidden challenges posed by asymptomatic sexually transmitted infections.
Drinks (both alcoholic and non) and light snacks will be available. Eat, drink and be square-y! Kids are also welcome at Nerd Nite.
Speakers:
- Christine Houser — Lessons from the Great Kanto Earthquake: expect the unexpected
- Fabio Lisi — Sexually Transmitted Infections: Making the Invisible Visible
