Do you like TED Talks? Do you want to listen to an intellectual discussion with a glass of wine or a pint of beer? Then head to Nerd Nite Tokyo for your monthly dose of wisdom — and fun.
A message from Nerd Nite Tokyo:
Every month, we gather some smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique. It’s our last Nerd Nite of the year, and we’re looking forward to new talks from two fan-favorite speakers!
Have you ever noticed bad science in TV and movies? Physicist Kipp Cannon has, too, and he wants to share some good and bad examples of science in entertainment — including the one that was so bad that it finally pushed him to speak out. Meanwhile, virophysicist Catherine Beauchemin will be talking about real challenges in how health science research is done: how it’s funded, how certain quantities are measured, and how data is analyzed to uncover new mechanisms.
Drinks (both alcoholic and non) will be available. Drink, meet, and be square-y! Kids are also welcome at Nerd Nite.
Speakers:
- Catherine Beauchemin — How health science is done: the good, the bad, and the ugly
- Kipp Cannon — A Physicist Goes to the Movies
