If you’ve ever needed to cool off on a sweltering Japanese summer, you’ll be familiar with kakigori. This shaved ice treat is the perfect guilt-free chill — and you can try as many as you like at the Odaiba Kakigori Festival.
What to expect
Kakigori is a simple dessert — a pile of ice shavings, topped with plenty of fruity and sweet syrup. At the Odaiba Kakigori Festival, you’ll be able to try kakigori from a variety of different food trucks. Try kakigori made with water from the springs of Mt. Fuji, known for its fluffy texture, or perhaps add on some Sicilian syrups, with bright citrus flavors. There’ll even be extravagant rainbow versions, perfect for a holiday Instagram shot.
How to get there
The Odaiba Kakigori Festival will be held at the 2F Festival Square in Odaiba’s Diver City shopping mall. To get there, take either the JR Saikyo Line or the Rinkai Line to Tokyo Teleport Station. From there, Diver City is a 7-minute walk away.
