‘Tis the season for oden and hot sake.
What happens?
Oden and Hot Sake Station is a very popular winter-only pop-up event that takes place inside a train station — specifically, Platform 3 of JR Ryōgoku Station, near Tokyo’s sumo stadium. Why’s this special? Well, the platform rarely opens to passengers.
If you’re quick enough to snag a ticket, you’ll get to eat oden, a classic winter dish in Japan, and sample a wide variety of hot sake. And not just any old sake: each day, ten prize-winning breweries from Japan’s National Kanzake (hot sake) Contest pour their selections.
Schedule 2026
This year’s event runs from January 29 to February 1. Each session lasts 60 minutes.
