Okinawa Fes Milafete brings an entire island’s worth of culture to central Tokyo.
What happens?
Yoyogi Park is always hosting cool festivals. This weekend-long celebration aims to fill the popular venue with the sights, sounds, flavors, and traditions of Okinawa — from sanshin (three-stringed lute) performances to regional crafts and soul food. If you can’t sneak away for a tropical weekend in Naha, this one’s for you.
Explore vendor stalls selling island eats, local handmade crafts, and goods from Okinawa’s many municipalities. Live stages showcase traditional music and performing arts throughout the day.
There’s also a DJ component. This year’s festival features a two-day DJ program with support from habu liqueur brand HABUSH and Okinawan awamori producer Kikunotsuyu. The lineup includes a mix of Okinawan and Tokyo club names, with bigger draws such as Tetsushi Hiroyama of RYUKYUDISKO and naotohiroyama of ORANGE RANGE, alongside HARIKUYAMAKU, GRI GRI, and LEF!!!CREW!!!
