Style and responsibility can share the same runway. Responsible Marché shows how.
What to expect
In the fast fashion industry, speed and scale come first: brands release new collections constantly and keep prices artificially low by compromising on fair wages and safe working conditions.
Slow fashion is the counterpoint. It’s about buying fewer but higher quality items, valuing quality, longevity, and repair, and demanding honesty in how our clothes are produced.
On Saturday, September 27, Impact HUB Tokyo will host the eighth edition of their Responsible Marché, dedicated to ethical fashion. (This follows their seventh edition, which focused on circularity.)
The lineup highlights labels that take slow fashion seriously, from upcycling fabrics and choosing low-impact fibres to paying liveable wages and maintaining safe workplaces. Alongside mindful shopping, you’ll find hands-on workshops and a chance to meet the people behind the clothes.
