Saitama Mint Bureau Cherry Blossom Viewing

The Saitama branch of Japan Mint opens its grounds for sakura-no-toorinuke (cherry blossom viewing passage) — a free, walk-through garden celebration. If you’ve missed peak bloom elsewhere in the Kantō region, this Saitama location is your second chance.

What happens?

The grounds showcase 26 varieties of yaezakura — multi-petaled cherry blossoms that bloom later than the common somei yoshino variety. Expect over 100 trees spread across the garden. The variety extends the bloom window considerably, keeping the hanami vibes going strong even as the flowers fade away elsewhere.

Note that the event may be canceled at short notice due to bad weather, so do check the official Mint website before visiting.
