The Setagaya Firefly Festival and Egret Market is a family-fun summer tradition held on Boroichi Street.
What happens?
The most popular event is the chance to see fireflies while walking through a dark, enclosed dome. Be prepared for long lines, and you’ll be asked to keep moving — but it is free to see. There will also be a flower exhibition featuring white egret flowers, a species of orchid that resembles a heron. If none of that tickles your fancy, head to the nearby Bon Odori at Tenso Shrine.
Schedule
The firefly viewing will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both days at the Setagaya Daikanyashiki’s parking lot. The Bon Odori at Tenso Shrine takes place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
