Shinagawa’s canals get their moment in the spotlight with 8,000 fireworks.
What happens?
Shinagawa’s waterfront is a sight to behold — and even more so with the boom, crackle, and sparkle of pyrotechnics.
Around 8,000 fireworks burst above Higashi-Shinagawa Marine Park and Tennōzu Park, reflecting off the canals and lighting up the bayside skyline. The fireworks show typically lasts around 30 minutes.
During the day, there are food stalls, live performances, and family-friendly attractions spread across the parks.
The celebration is part of a larger local festival celebrating the area’s waterways, known as the Shinagawa Waterfront Tourism Festival.
Highlights
In 2024, there were plenty of stage shows and a petting zoo, alongside the main fireworks display at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Schedule
The October 2025 event will take place from October 10 to 12, and fireworks are scheduled for Saturday the 11th.
How to get there
From Shinjuku Station, simply take the Saikyō Line (for Shin-Kiba) and disembark at Tennōzu Isle Station. The main venues, Higashi-Shinagawa Marine Park and Tennōzu Park, are a five- and ten-minute walk from the station, respectively. The entire journey should take no more than half an hour.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
