Sunshine City Halloween

This month-long Halloween celebration in Ikebukuro is designed for families.

What happens?

Children print and decorate a ghost-shaped candy box at home, then bring it along on designated “Trick or Treat Operation” days to have it filled with sweets. There’s also a ghost card hunt that runs across Sunshine City, a few stalls with old-school games, and Halloween photo spots at the picture-book area and the Sunshine 60 Observatory. On October 31, there will be a free concert with costumed performers.

Schedule 2026

The event runs from October 1 (Thursday) to October 31 (Saturday).

• The Trick or Treat Operation takes place on October 17–18, 24–25, and 30–31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the plaza in front of Alpa’s south entrance — it’s called off in bad weather. Coloring sheets for the box can be printed from the official website.
• The ghost card hunt runs throughout the entire event period, from October 1 to 31. Cards are handed out during each venue’s opening hours, while stocks last.
• The Halloween stalls are open on the same days — October 17–18, 24–25, and 30–31 — from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• On October 17–18 and 30–31, a coupon in the free My Sunshine City app gets you one go at a candy grab, also from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• On October 31, the Halloween concert will be held at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. in Alpa’s basement-level fountain plaza, with each performance lasting about 30 minutes.

Tickets 2026

Admission is free. The game stalls cost ¥300 a go, or ¥500 for a set ticket covering two stalls (cash only). The ghost cards are given out inside Sunshine Aquarium, the Sunshine 60 Observatory, and the Ancient Orient Museum, each of which needs its own ticket.
