Tachikawa twinkles with 600,000 lights.
What to expect
Tachikawa has been booming in recent years, and this winter’s illumination and Christmas market will add to the area’s energy. A 550-meter stretch of road around Tachikawa Station’s North Exit and San San Road will be illuminated with 600,000 champagne-colored bulbs for two months of fun and activities.
Schedule
In addition to the twinkling trees, the illumination kicks off with a lighting ceremony on November 1 featuring live music and local mascots.
On six days throughout December, a Christmas market will also appear. The market promises 20 stalls and 20 food trucks along San San Road each day, as well as events and activities on the main stage and plaza area. The Christmas market will happen on Saturdays and Sundays, December 13, 14, 20, 21, as well as December 24 and 25.
Organisers are also running a photo competition with cool prizes, as well as a special coupon campaign. Check the official website for details.
How to get there
The illumination and Christmas market are taking place mostly around San San Road outside the North Exit of Tachikawa Station on the Chūō Main Line, Chuo Line (Rapid), Nambu Line, and Ome Line.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
