A celebration of the young leaves, this spring event incorporates a series of performances, concerts and traditional events. Held as a kind of rival to the autumn leaves festival held in November, this is a lovely bonus if you’re planning to hike up Takao during the month-long event.
What happens?
With plenty of performances and concerts held at the Kiyotaki Cable Car Station (a short walk from the train station) and in the grounds of Yakuoin temple, you can listen to live music, enjoy tea ceremonies, and watch traditional and modern dance performances. The entertainment mainly takes place on weekends, so while it will be busier, there won’t be much happening during the week.
Schedule 2024
Over the weekends during the event period, you’ll find live music, dancing, and other unique (and traditional) performances. Here are some highlights:
- April 21: A parade will set off from Yakuoin Temple at 11:10 a.m.
- April 29: Geisha dance at Kiyotaki Cable Car Station from 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- May 11: Outside tea ceremony at Fudoin Cable Car Station from 10 a.m.
- 2.5 km from Takaosanguchi Station Keiō Takao Line (KO53)
