The Swedish indie legends return to Japan after 26 years.
What to expect
Known for tracks like You and Me Song and My Home Town, The Wannadies have been front runners of the early indie and power pop scenes since their formation in northern Sweden in 1988. Now, after 26 years away — years which included a new album, a breakup, and a reformation — the band is returning to Japan under the most surprising of circumstances.
“What circumstances?” You may ask. And, “Why is it called Club Wonder Osaka 19th Anniversary?”
The answers are as such:
Lovely Summer Chan, the opening act for the two shows on this tour, saw the Wannadies perform in the UK in 2022. After returning to Osaka, while hanging out at Club Wonder, she mentioned that she wished someone would bring the them back to Japan to perform. What was born from this throwaway comment was the bar managers and regulars starting a mini concert promo team, getting in touch with the band, and booking a run of shows here.
You can read about it here and via Lovely Summer Chan’s X account.
Entry
Advance tickets are ¥9,500 via ePlus. Door tickets will be ¥10,000 on the day. Both ticket types require you to also pay for one drink at the door.
