Tokyo Festival celebrates Japanese urban arts every fall around Ikebukuro. It aims to connect with the world through Tokyo’s rich and diverse arts and culture scene.

What happens?

This year, the festival will offer special tours for international visitors to experience Japan’s leading contemporary performing arts. These tours will not only offer English subtitles to assist in understanding the productions, but will also provide the opportunity to enjoy insights into the background and concepts of the works and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre itself.

How to get there

The festival mainly takes place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre which is a 2-minute walk from the West Exit of Ikebukuro Station on JR and other lines. There is a direct connection to the theatre from Exit 2b.

Staff, who speak English, Korean, and Chinese, will welcome you at the information center. Also, you can enjoy a variety of festival-inspired events, specialty foods, and live performances at the Hiroba Transit Kitchen near the information center.
