E-sports is on the up and up. This annual event invites gamers and enthusiasts of all ages to partake.

What happens?

Tokyo Big Sight fills up with tournaments, demos, booths, meetups, and hands-on activities for the Tokyo eSports Festa.

Highlights 2026

The competition lineup covers a broad mix: Street Fighter 6, eFootball™, Gran Turismo 7, Puzzle & Dragons, Puyo Puyo eSports, and the finals for Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival.

Beyond the matches, about fifty companies will showcase new gear and gaming services, many with try-it-yourself booths. Professional teams like CAG OSAKA and FENNEL will be hosting casual fan meetups, and the event’s ambassador, STANMI JAPAN, will hold a photo session.

There’s also a community tournament, international exhibition matches, beginner-friendly workshops for kids, PC-building demonstrations, guided match-commentary experiences, food trucks, and a prize lottery.

Aside from the established games and tournaments, when we visited in 2026, there was also an indie game development competition. The developer comp area allowed visitors to try the games themselves and vote for their favorite. It was a great way to interact with the creators, try the games firsthand, and see the new wave of creativity coming to console and PC games.

Another highlight was the new inclusive gear being introduced to the gaming world for gamers with disabilities. Some of the gear on display included switches, joysticks, and controllers that required minimal or no lateral or downward force to operate; large-button switches for users who have difficulty with smaller buttons; and other innovations that make the gaming world more accessible.

Entry 2026

The event is free on all days. January 9 is designated for industry professionals only, and requires advance reservations. January 10 and 11 are open to the public.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
