This international art fair has become a highlight of Japan’s cultural calendar.
What happens?
Tokyo Gendai convenes leading galleries, artists, and collectors from Japan and abroad. It has quickly carved out a central role in Asia’s contemporary art circuit.
The fair is as much a marketplace as it is a forum, with curated booths, ambitious installations, and a programme of talks that examine today’s art world.
Highlights 2025
This year’s edition coincides with the Aichi Triennale.
The Hana Artist Award is a new prize supporting emerging and mid-career artists. 2025 marks the expansion of Tsubomi “Flower Bud”, a special section that spotlights works by Japanese women artists utilizing traditional craft techniques.
