What to expect
Following its inaugural run in 2025, Tokyo Poetry Week returns this April to celebrate the city’s diverse poetic communities with a special program of events across the city. This year’s events include poetry readings, talks, workshops, exhibitions, dance performances, painting, and parties. Check out some of the key events in the program below.

Here’s what to look out for during the week:
April 9: Reading and talk with Chris Mosdell and Zoria Petkoska K
Gallery Conceal, ShibuyaFree
The week of events kicks off on April 9 at Gallery Conceal in Shibuya with a reading and talk with legendary Yellow Magic Orchestra lyricist Chris Mosdell and Zoria Petkoska K, editor in chief of Tokyo Poetry Journal.
April 11: Multilingual reading, discussion, and barista pop-up
UltraSuperNew Kura, ShibuyaFree
On April 11, at UltraSuperNew Kura, poets and translators will give a multilingual reading and discuss the complexities of self-translation in poetry. The event will also feature a coffee barista pop-up on the rooftop.

April 10 and 12: Traditional Japanese poetry events

April 10 and April 12 are events dedicated to tanka and haiku poetry, respectively.
April 16: Poetry — Experimentations

All events at Tokyo Poetry Week 2026 are free except for a partner event open mic on April 17 which costs ¥1,000
