What to expect

During this tour, you’ll take part in a variety of traditional experiences in small groups — including a visit to a local sumo training stable, an Edo-period residence, a rickshaw ride through a bamboo forest, a tea ceremony, traditional onigiri rice-ball making, and more.

Schedule

  • 8:00 a.m. – Meet in front of the ticket office at Kashiwa Station
  • 8:05 a.m. – Kimono rental and fitting
  • 9:20 a.m. – Depart from Kashiwa Station by chartered bus
  • 9:30 a.m. – Visit the sumo training quarters
  • 10:30 a.m. – Visit the Someya Family Residence
  • 11:00 a.m. – Rickshaw ride through the bamboo forest
  • 11:30 a.m. – Visit Katori Shrine
  • 12:00 p.m. – Japanese tea ceremony at the Someya Family Residence
  • 12:30 p.m. – Kamado rice ball lunch
  • 1:40 p.m. – Buddhist prayer and drum ritual at Ioji Temple
  • 2:45 p.m. – Depart from Ioji Temple by chartered bus
  • 3:00 p.m. – Local shopping and break at Shonan Roadside Station
  • 3:30 p.m. – Depart from Shonan Roadside Station
  • 3:45 p.m. – Kimono return
  • 4:15 p.m. – Tour ends

Participation in the tour is at the discounted price of ¥40,000, bookings are available via the official tour website. With your booking, you’ll receive three professional photos taken during the tour – one taken during the rickshaw ride, and two taken while exploring Washinoya.
