The Showa era is remembered fondly for its quirky designs and classical charm. For a short trip back to this nostalgic time, head to the Yokohama Showa Nabe Festival.
What to expect
The Yokohama Nabe Festival (Sakedokoro Nabegoya) is all about nabe, a traditional Japanese hotpot that’s the perfect winter warmer. The festival will have 18 different types of nabe, along with over 100 different sake for visitors to sample. Settle down around a heated table, and share with your foodie friends!
This year’s festival is themed around the Showa era, as 2025 is the 100th anniversary of the period. Expect plenty of retro trappings, from swathes of red lanterns to classic Japanese pop songs. Close your eyes, relax, and you might feel like you’ve traveled back in time.
