See 550,000 bright yellow sunflowers in all their glory at the Zama Sunflower Festival, one of Tokyo’s most famous sunflower festivals.
What happens?
From August 10 to 13, frolic through the fields and take photos of the beautiful sunflowers. Make sure to look out for the special observation deck and photo spot as well.
If that isn’t enough, there will also be local businesses selling food, agricultural products, and cut sunflowers.
How to get there
The most convenient station for the festival is Sobudai-mae Station. To get here, you will need to take the Odakyu Line. From Shinjuku, it takes 45 minutes by rapid train or 1 hour and 15 minutes on the local train. During the festival, a special bus will run that takes you directly from this station to the festival. Note that a one-way ticket costs ¥240 and that they run between every 15 to 20 minutes.
If you are willing to walk, then you could also take the JR Sagami Line to Sobudaishita Station or Iriya Station and then walk up to 20 minutes.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
