There are worse ways to watch a film than with sand under your shoes and the sea going dark beside you. This annual beachside festival turns Zushi into an open-air cinema.
What happens?
Expect a line-up of films shown against one of the better backdrops in greater Tokyo: the beach at night. There will also be live music, kids’ activities, DJs and food vendors.
Not every film is guaranteed to have English subtitles though, so it’s worth checking the official schedule in advance if that’s a dealbreaker.
Also, do not be fooled by the beach setting. Once the sun goes down, it gets properly chilly, with nighttime temperatures hovering around 10°C. Bring warm layers and a raincoat.
