1. Sushi Azabu
Edomae sushiLunch from ¥4,800 | Dinner from ¥9,800
The international Azabu line of restaurants returned to their roots in Tokyo with the opening of Sushi Azabu. And it has a lot to live up to, with both its New York and Miami counterparts awarded Michelin stars. The Azabudai Hills eatery promises a well-balanced mix of modern design and traditional esthetic, thanks in part to the calligraphy by Rintaro Hashiguchi that decorates much of the restaurant.
Serving up fresh seafood paired with seasonal ingredients, Sushi Azabu is a great place to get a taste of high-quality sushi without spending a small fortune. They have omakase sushi courses for both lunch and dinner. You can make reservations online (via the Sushi Azabu website).
Sushi Azabu is located on the third floor of Tower Plaza.
2. Hakata Tempura Takao Umu
TempuraLunch from ¥1,500 | Dinner from ¥2,000
This restaurant comes from a long line of tempura speciality stores. Originally from Fukuoka, Hakata Tempura Takao Umu specializes in Hakata-style tempura. What makes Hakata-style tempura special is that each piece of tempura is served straight out of the fryer, rather than waiting for everything to be ready. This means your meal will be served piece by piping-hot piece.
For lunch, you can choose from a variety of set meals or tempura bowls. Meanwhile, for dinner, there’s an omakase course, a few set meals, or an á la carte menu. Hakata Tempura Takao stores generally don’t accept reservations, but if you can speak Japanese you can call ahead of time (03-5843-7744) to ask whether the store is busy.
Hakata Tempura Takao Umu is located on Basement Floor 1 of the Garden Plaza.
3. Tonkatsu Kawamura
Tonkatsu, JapaneseLunch from ¥1,500 | Dinner from ¥1,500

The menu remains the same for lunch and dinner, with a selection of set meals to enjoy. Each set comes with rice, miso soup, and cabbage. There are also different cuts of tonkatsu to choose from. Reservations for Tonkatsu Kawamura can be made online.

This moody and intimate bar specializes in whiskey, with Japanese, Scotch, and American tipples all taking up big chunks of the menu.
Don’t worry if you’re not a whiskey drinker though, you can also get other alcoholic drinks like cocktails and wines. The Lover’s Lounge also serves snacks, light meals, and desserts.
