We’ve mentioned Yamaya before (cheap fruit juice), and no doubt we’ll be mentioning it again, because Yamaya is a Tokyo Cheapo’s destination of choice.

Particularly if you are from the ‘west’, you’ll appreciate the prices on a good selection of it’s imported products. Branded as a “World Liquor System”, it certainly has a good selection of booze but that’s only half the story. In all my cheapo experience I’ve found it the cheapest and often the best quality place for buying:

  • fruit juice
  • tea
  • herb tea
  • mineral water
  • cheese
  • museli & cereals
  • saurkraut
  • olives
  • fresh pasta (yes fresh)
  • tinned tomatoes
  • other tinned stuff

And that’s by no means an exhaustive list. Basically a good selection of imported goods, and typical half the price (or even less) than you’ll find anywhere else.
