Jingugaien is literally the “Meijijingu shrine outer garden”. The district is located considerably to the east of the main shrine and stretches towards the Aoyama district.
There isn’t much in the way of shops, offices and apartments, but there are lots of parks and sports grounds including tennis courts, Jingu Baseball Stadium, Chichibunomiya Stadium, a golf driving range and in summer, an outstanding beer garden.
The gingko tree lined Namiki dori, which leads from the Jingumae area is renowned as a spot for admiring the changing leaves in Autumn.
